Weekend Planner for October 14-16

(WDBJ7) It's definitely feeling like fall outside, and there are plenty of activities happening in our area. Here's a look at your weekend planner.

The 6th annual Hokie Bug Fest is happening on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's at the Inn at Virginia Tech. This family-friendly festival is free, and lets you get up close and personal with all kinds of bugs. There will also be bug infused candy for anyone brave enough to try it.

Wings of Freedom will be at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport this weekend. Four restored World War Two aircraft will be on hand for walk-through tours and flights. This is a part of the 75th anniversary of the dedication of Woodrum Field also now known as Blacksburg-Roanoke Regional Airport. The planes arrive at the airport on Friday at 2 p.m. and will be on display on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.

If you’re looking for some live music, the Lynchstock Fall Fest is happening this weekend. It will be at the Academy Center of the Arts on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. It will celebrate music, food, activities and more. Tickets are $15 at the door.

The Craftsmen's Fall Classic is at the Berglund Center this weekend. There will be hundreds of artists and craftsmen from across the nation at this event. Admission is free with a food donation to Feeding America Southwest Virginia. Doors will be open on Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is always a great way to start your holiday shopping.

The City of Lynchburg is celebrating Halloween a little early with the 6th annual Zombie Walk on Saturday. It's happening at the Lynchburg Community Market starting at 5 p.m. There will be prizes for the most authentic zombie plus a cake eating contest. All participants are asked to bring a canned food donation to benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Or you can make a cash donation to the Lynchburg Dog Park.

AmRhein's Wine Cellars is hosting Oktoberfest on Saturday with a moonlight grape stomping event. Come on out to stomp some grapes or take part in some carrel racing. There will also be live music and food available. It all starts at 4 p.m. Admission is $20 and includes a wine glass and wine tasting. Kids can get in for $7.

You can take part in a Speakeasy Murder Mystery. It's happening Saturday night at the Draper Mercantile and Trading Company from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This is an interactive murder mystery dinner party in Roaring '20s style. Tickets are $45 per guest and includes dinner.

The 16th Annual Christiansburg Police Department Fall Festival is also happening on Saturday. It's at the New River Valley Mall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a lot of vendors on hand and games for the kids. Admission is free, however some rides and attractions are a separate cost.

The 2016 Radford Craft and Draft is on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. There will be plenty of food, craft beers, live music and other vendors to check out. A $1 donation will be taken at the gate for the Help Save the Next Girl foundation. It's located on the 3rd Ave. lot, right across the street from Green Heron Arts & Brad's Barber Shop.

Bring the kids out to the 3rd Annual Lexington Science Festival & Maker Faire on Sunday. It's on Main Street from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be all kinds of interactive events that focus on science, technology, engineering and math.

The annual Go Outside festival is this weekend in Roanoke. This event features demonstrations and vendors for just about every outdoor event you can think of. It starts Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and goes through Sunday until around 5:30 p.m. This is a free event, and is sure to be fun for the whole family. Click here for more details.
