ROANOKE, VA. (WDBJ7) The 35th annual Dickens of a Christmas second Friday is traditionally when the Roanoke Christmas Parade is held. This year, because of construction, the parade had to be moved to the weekend.
For the first time, folks who visited Dickens for a Christmas were treated to a downtown Winter Carnival.
Organizers say they wanted to do something pretty big for the people who expected to see the parade. They say after hours upon hours of brainstorming, the Winter Carnival idea was formed and they made it happen.
The Roanoke Christmas parade will kick off Saturday, December 9 at 6pm at the Market Square.
