UPDATE: Police identify murder victim at Danville convenience store

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) - UPDATE:

Danville police have identified a man who died at the Joy Food convenience store on Tuesday morning.

Authorities say 54- year- old Tahir Mahmud of Danville, was pronounced dead by the Danville Life Saving Crew.

He was operating the store at the time.

Mahmud had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

The investigation is being treated as a homicide.

Police have confirmed they are investigating a homicide at the Joy Food convenience store at 507 Riverside Drive in Danville, Va.

WDBJ7 was told that a body was found inside the store and was confirmed to be a male.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's office have also confirmed to bringing in a tracking dog about a half an hour ago.
