Blacksburg at Giles

PEARISBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- In Pearisburg, the Giles version of the single wing tried to get revved up against the defending 3A champs from Blacksburg.

But it was the Bruins and Cole Beck who got untracked from the jump. Beck rips off a ten yard pick up and Blacksburg was on the move.

Later in the drive, inside the five and Beck gets the call again. He looks like he gets stopped short but the officials say touchdown to make it 7-0.

Giles doing its best to answer. Ryan Beidleman gets a crease and he's off to the races. Beidleman uses some fleet feet, dancing 77 yards for the Spartans, setting the single wingers up with a first down in the red zone at the 12 yard line.

On the first play of the second quarter, this is a nice play from Giles, but Ty Ratcliffe can't haul in the catch for a sure touchdown as they turn it over on downs.

Blacksburg takes advantage of another third down conversion. Grant Johnston to Cole Epperly on the completion and the Bruins were cooking again.

Beck then goes up the middle showing off his track skills on a 49 yard touchdown gallop and the Bruins were in control.

They blast Giles ending a five game skid against the Spartans 51 to 14.
