BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) The Virginia Tech quarterbacks addressed the media for the first time this preseason Friday in Blacksburg, as the Hokies were set for an afternoon scrimmage, where Coach Justin Fuente hoped to move closer to naming a starter.
Josh Jackson has been in the program the longest, but doesn't really feel like he has a significant edge over Hendon Hooker or AJ Bush.
"At this point, not much of a factor because they have kind of caught on and they know the system pretty well now," said the Redshirt Freshman, Josh Jackson. "Maybe with installing some simple plays or tempos and stuff like that that I remember, it's maybe an advantage but they are smart guys. They catch on pretty well."
"They do a great job of just keeping everything even keel," said junior college transfer, AJ Bush. "We all get the same amount of reps. We all get different looks with each team so you just have to make the most of your opportunity."
"I feel like everyone has their flaws or takeaways in the system," said true freshman, Hendon Hooker. "I'm just trying to take it one day at a time and just improve in every aspect."
Head Coach, Justin Fuente, knows a decision has to be made, but he and his staff aren't quite there yet.
"There's a point in time when we have to make a decision and move forward and make a decision," said Fuente. "I'm not sure what that date is. We're not to that point yet. I'm optimistic and hopeful that somebody will separate themselves before we get to whatever that mythical date is."
