The Roanoke Catholic Celtics were after their second straight state title tonight, hosting Fuqua at Vinyard Park.
Coach Bob Price firing up the troops in the pre-game.
The Celtics on the move following an early Fuqua fumble. Adrian Worley rolls out and looks downfield. He puts it up for Alex Vaught who makes the grab inside the two yard line to setup a first and goal for Catholic.
Three plays later, Worley keeps it and sneaks in for the touchdown to make it 6-nothing Celtics.
Then on the two point conversion, Worley connects with Vaught again and just like that it was 8-zip Catholic.
They turned the scoreboard again a few minutes later, as Mykah English gets the pitch and he's off to the races. English totes the mail 56 big yards on the option. He finds the endzone and another two point conversion made it 16-nothing.
Fuqua then rattled off 17 straight points to take the lead late in the first half.
But English got loose again. He's taking it to the house again. Catholic led it 22 to 17 at the break and withstood every Falcons challenge.
Kawan Ray put things on ice, breaking off another big touchdown run late in the game.
Roanoke Catholic finishes off a perfect season with the 51 to 36 win, going back to back, winning another state championship.
"It's just an awesome experience. The boys just played really hard all day. We executed. We made some mistakes but the boys just kept fighting the whole game and I'm just as proud as I can be of them," Price said.
"They were spreading us out a good bit defensively and then running the football. We made a few adjustments at halftime and like I say, the boys just executed and ran to the ball. They did a nice job."
