MONETA, Va. (WDBJ7) Chuck Poston/Staunton River Head Coach: I know we're undefeated but this year has been harder than the previous year was because everybody threw everything under the sun at us but that speaks to the dedication and hard work of our kids and coaches and how hard we've pushed and how hard we've grinded to try to get back to this point and of course, once you get back to this point, it means that you've got a shot to win it all which is all that anybody could ask for.
TJ Tester/Staunton River Wingback: We've definitely worked harder this offseason. We've definitely put in more work. We've had to overcome a lot more challenges this season so I think we're battle tested and we're ready to go.
The Golden Eagles are 34 and 7 over the past four seasons, running the single wing offense. It's become their identity, so much that they've adopted the slogan, "Fear the Wing."
Grayson Overstreet/Staunton River Wingback: Fear the Wing is just something that we've always had. It just means hard work that we've put into the offense and execution. That's really just what it means. It means a lot more to this team. We all grew up playing with each other since rec ball and it justifies the players and the brotherhood and the bond that we have on this football team.
Kalip Jones/Staunton River Wingback: It's about our family and brotherhood and us just coming together.
Tester: We started Fear the Wing my sophomore year when we made it to the playoffs and the coaches said come up with a name and we just took off and that's been our slogan since.
It's been storybook rise for Staunton River since Poston took over, but the head coach hasn't had much time yet to reflect on all the accomplishments, and there's one more prize still out there.
Chuck Poston: We just try to focus on the next one and I'm sure when it's all said and done, we'll be able to sit back and look and go "Wow, I can't believe we've done that." But right now it's just about trying to be 1 and 0 at the end of this week.
