BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- There was some good football tonight in the New River Valley at the Bill Brown Stadium for the match up between Pulaski County and Blacksburg.
Tonight was Senior Night in Blacksburg, so you know the oldest players are hoping for a win. But Pulaski County wants to play spoiler with a pretty good opening drive.
But two sacks by Cole Epperly and then Brian Mitchell and Gideon Driscoll, hey he's a senior, would cut the drive short.
Band's lovin' that, and they'll love the offense too, as Grant Johnston finds Tiquest Terry on the quick slant and he's off for the game's first score.
But it's not all great for Blacksburg.
On a punt, Terry can't handle it and it's recovered by Jaceri Eaves. Then the Cougars Kade Akers finds E.J. Horton in the endzone to give Pulaski County a 7 to 6 lead.
The Bruins clearly don't like trailing, because two plays later, Cole Beck, a senior and future Hokie, takes it 68 yards for the score!
But Pulaski County's Akers says, "I like leading too," as he finds Horton, again, for the score!
Later in the half, Johnston finds senior Josh VanGilder who does most of the work with his legs to take the lead back.
Blacksburg beats Pulaski County 53 to 28.
