Virginia Tech head baseball coach 'relieved of coaching duties'

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Virginia Tech Director of Athletics Whit Babcock announced Sunday that head baseball coach Patrick Mason was “relieved of his coaching duties.”

Babcock added that a national search for Pat Mason will begin immediately.

Mason completed his fourth season as head coach after serving three years as an assistant. His overall record at Virginia Tech was 90-126. In Atlantic Coast Conference play, his record was 37-82.

Tech finished the 2017 season with a 32-22 overall record, 9-21 ACC.
2018 marks the 125th baseball season at Virginia Tech.
