( Charles Osgood / October 26, 2010 ) The last Indian battle fought in Illinois was between Black Hawk's band and the Illinois militia at Kellogg's Grove just south of tiny Kent, Ill. The monument built in 1886 commemorates the more than a dozen men killed by Black Hawk at the time of the last battle on June 25, 1832. Lt. Abe Lincoln and he men helped buy the dead the following day. |
