The last Indian battle fought in <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100500000000" title="Illinois" href="/topic/us/illinois-PLGEO100100500000000.topic">Illinois</a> was between Black Hawk's band and the Illinois militia at Kellogg's Grove just south of tiny Kent, Ill. The monument built in 1886 commemorates the more than a dozen men killed by Black Hawk at the time of the last battle on June 25, 1832. Lt. <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PEHST002241" title="Abraham Lincoln" href="/topic/politics/government/presidents-of-the-united-states/abraham-lincoln-PEHST002241.topic">Abe Lincoln</a> and he men helped buy the dead the following day.
