Katie is currently on the bottom of the totem pole. She is the weakest link on the tribe. She has to work some magic to survive until merge. While sitting next to Denise, she figures that one of the men has the immunity idol. She narrows it down to Penner because he brought his bag to tribal when he knew he wasn’t going home. He only brought in case something crazy happened. Katie wants to plant seeds of doubt to get Penner out next.
Rice to Eat You!
Mike loves to eat rice, uncooked. He thinks it will expand in his belly to make himself full. The only thing he is full of is bologna. Artis and Pete blame Mike for the lack of rice at camp. It seems like the camp does not like Mike at all. This is weird because everyone expected him to win this season.
Reward Challenge
This goes back to the old school Survivor challenge. A gigantic wicker ball + mud = a great challenge. The goal is to get the ball through the goal to score 3 times. The winners get to go to a dry hut and eat sandwiches, soup and brownies.
RC and Artis sit out since their tribe is up 2 people.
The first round is Denise, Carter, Penner vs. Skupin, Pete and Lisa. Out of the gate it seems like the winner of this round will win from their heart. It is a stalemate. Lisa has Denise. Carter wrestles with Pete. Skupin is sitting on Penner. Yes, Skupin sits on Penner because he reached his hands underneath mike’s crotch to make it severely uncomfortable for both men.
An hour passes by and they are still stuck there. No one wants to give up but no one has enough energy to out-play their direct opponent. Jonathan strikes up a deal. If his tribes win, they will give Tangdang all of their rice. Mike considers this while his tribe is 50/50 on the decision.
Kalabaw is not too hot on this deal either. Jonathan has to plead and promise his tribe that he can and will catch fish. Tangdang agrees on the deal and the win goes to Kalabaw.
Kalabaw enjoys their sandwiches and instant gratification. However, they know this feeling won’t last long. Penner notices some envelopes off to the side and its letters from home. These letters are the motivation that Kalabaw needs to play out until the end. There are a lot of tears.
Unlike Kalabaw, Tandang is not celebrating. Their rice will last them two whole days, not even a week. Since Tangdang never lose, the have 7 members. That is seven mouths that need food. Skupin is not the tribe’s favorite since he negotiated the deal. Artis is fuming; he wanted the win because today is his birthday. RC tells Skupin of this and he says Artis is a teenage girl who whispers in everyone’s ears the drama.
RC has a very interesting strategy. She tells us that she knows Abi is crazy. She is waiting for her to blow up so she can fly under the radar.
Can’t Catch a Fish.. I mean Break
Back at Kalabaw, Penner is fishing. The tribe waits for the “feast” that he will bring them. Jonathan brings back two small fish and expects the tribe to be satisfied. I mean the fish are smaller than sand dollars. I caught bigger fish to earn my fishing merit badge. Penner is such a bad fisherman. He couldn’t spear fish in shallow water when they are less than a foot from him.
Immunity Challenge
One team member launches balls while 3 other try to catch them in the net. The first tribe to 5 balls wins. Skupin and Abi sit out. Jeff had to make his comments on how Abi constantly sits out on these challenges, as usual.
Lisa and Denise are the ball launchers while everyone else is playing on the field. First round, Penner scores. Kalabaw is up 1-0. The second round lands points for Tangdang. Pete and RC both catch balls and now Tangdang is up 2-1. Jeff goes on a roll to catch 3 balls in a row; Kalabaw is up 2-4. Kalabaw needs one more point to secure safety from tribal resulting in Tangdang going to tribal for the first time. As fate has it, Tangdang scores the next 3 times with golden-boy Malcolm scoring all 3 points. Skupin suggested to ball launcher Lisa to shoot toward him. This strategy worked out and gave Tangdang the V!
Devastated, Carter and Jeff contemplate who to keep, Katie or Penner. Penner promised food and if he doesn’t deliver his promises, Carter’s body may not make the environment. They also don’t want a veteran to win this game. If they merge with Penner, then all eyes will be on Penner instead of the two strong men. It might work out in their favor. But can they trust Penner? They both feel Denise is someone they can trust 100%.
Jonathan joins the guys at camp and Carter asks, “Penner, what do you want to do? Katie or Penner?” The biggest Freudian slip EVER!! Jeff can’t believe what came out of Carter’s mouth. Jonathan didn’t even pick up on it and says Katie. Katie then walks up and Jonathan says “Denise” and rushes off. Katie doesn’t feel eased by this vote.
At tribal, Jeff and Kalabaw talk about blindsides. Penner mentions that blindsides are necessary and valuable to do. He appreciates blindsides so when he is blindsided, he will commend the others on gameplay. My mind flashbacked to Kat, last season, who said blindsides are fun. Then, she got blindsided that night and her face was full of shock and horror. Will the same fate happen to Penner? Nope, Katie was voted out with a vote of 4-1.
