The Red Cross is in need of more volunteers to staff its shelters in the Roanoke Valley and Franklin County.

If you're interested in helping out, training is required. You can get the training at the Red Cross' Roanoke office on Monday at 6:00pm. At that time, a background check will be completed. Anyone wanting to help out will need to be available to help throughout this week.

If you want to learn more about becoming a volunteer, call the Red Cross Volunteer hotline at 540-525-9029.
