A couple and their three children are looking for a new home after a fire in Amherst County Saturday.
Amherst County Director of Public Safety Gary Roakes tells News 7 the fire at 107 Noel Lane in Gladstone started around 3:45 Saturday afternoon.
Roakes says a family member smelled smoke inside the home and went outside to try and locate the problem. When she came back inside, she spotted flames and helped her children, ages 10, 9, and 8, get out of the home safely. No one was injured.
Roakes says the fire started in the den are of the home. He believes the cause is electrical.
The home, which Roakes says is a total loss, was not insured. The family is now staying with relatives.

An Amherst County family is having to spend the night with relatives after fire destroyed their home Saturday morning.
The fire happened at 107 Noel Lane in Gladstone.
American Red Cross volunteers are helping the family with food, clothing, and hygiene supplies.
No word on what caused the fire.
