An arrest has been made in an incident in Gretna Saturday morning that involved a Pittsylvania County deputy.

Jeremy Dewayne Berger, 28 and of Pittsville, was arrested Sunday.

He's charged with attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer, but more charges could be on the way.

According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to the 800 block of Henry Street in Gretna Saturday to serve a warrant.

While deputies arrested one man on a malicious wounding charge, Berger drove off, but not before hitting a deputy with the car.

That deputy was not seriously injured.

The sheriff's department says a shooting did take place, but they won't say who pulled the trigger or if anyone was shot.

State Police have taken over the investigation.
