Manure replaces water & sand traps at one Montgomery Co. golf course

You've never truly had a stinky round of golf until you've played the Meadowbrook Open in eastern Montgomery County.  That's because the golf course is on a cattle pasture.

It's part of former State Senator Madison Marye's farm.  You're guaranteed a unique golfing experience, but it's all for charity.

"We caution them that they should probably not come out with their golf shoes but with some boots, some blue jeans.  And you gotta play the ball where it lies.  We don't have sand traps.  We have other hazards.  You gotta look out," said Michael Hemphill, with the Mountain Valley Charitable Foundation.

Proceeds benefit the Meadowbrook Center in Shawsville.  It's a multi-purpose facility that has a library, a YMCA, museum and community center.

Tee off time is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
