Lynchburg area schools begin flu shot clinics for students

Students in the Lynchburg area will soon be able to receive the "Swine Flu" vaccine, free of charge.

Health officials are preparing to offer the novel H1N1 flu vaccination to students in the counties and cities of Appomattox, Amherst, Bedford, Campbell, and Lynchburg.

Vaccination consent packets have been going home to parents since October 8.  If you haven't received one, contact the Central Virginia Health District at 434-947-2873.

Nurses will be vaccinating in Lynchburg City Schools and Amherst County Schools Monday, October 19th through Friday, Oct. 23rd.

Students in Appomattox County will receive the vaccine Oct. 23rd.  Bedford and Campbell County Schools will be vaccinated Monday Oct. 26th through Thursday Oct. 29th

Health officials are asking parents who have questions about the vaccine to call 1-877-ASK-VDH3 or visit www.flu.gov.
