There's a short supply, but high demand keeps driving long lines for the H1N1 vaccine locally. Hundreds turned out in Salem Saturday morning at PCA Medical Center to get a shot. The private healthcare company on Apperson Drive announced earlier this week it had received about a thousand doses. Patients who arrived around 8 a.m. had to wait about an hour and half.
"We're seeing a lot more people than we expected," says PCA President Dr. Edwin Polverino. "The good news is we got a lot more vaccine than we had expected. We got a late order, a late shipment in Friday evening."
PCA is already preparing for another clinic next Saturday morning at 8:30 with children and pregnant women taking priority.
