
A student has been arrested, accused of making a bomb threat to Carroll County Intermediate School on November 6th.
Investigators say it was a hoax and there was no bomb. The charge is communicating a threat in writing. But more charges could follow.
Officials are in the process of determining whether he will remain in school.
The sheriff hopes the serious and swift response will be a deterrent to anything like this happening again.

Sheriff H. Warren Manning has announced that through a investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers, Deputy Buck Cox and Sgt. J.B. Gardner with the cooperation of the Carroll County Public School System, and Carroll County Intermediate School Administration, an arrest has been made in the bomb threat incident at Carroll County Intermediate School that occurred on 11/ 06/2009. Information received by the Resource Officers and school officials led to the identification of a juvenile suspect who was questioned and later arrested in connection with this incident. Sheriff Manning would like to thank Carroll County EMS, the Hillsville Police Department, the Virginia State Police, the Virginia State HazMat Team, the Va. Department of Emergency Management, the U. S. Postal Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Carroll County Health Department for their help with this incident. The cooperation of these agencies led to the resolution of this incident, and it is Sheriff Manning’s hope that the serious and swift response will be a deterrent to anything of this nature happening again.
