Thousands of people began their Thanksgiving on the move in downtown Roanoke.
Nearly 7,600 runners, walkers and strollers joined in this year's Drumstick Dash. That's up from about 5,000 last year.
The Dash is a fundraiser for the Rescue Mission of Roanoke. The Mission provides shelter for an average of 360 people every night and serves about 350,000 meals to hungry families.
