WISDOM, Mo. -- A man who is charged with abducting a woman in Kansas City was arrested Monday afternoon in southwest Benton County.   Officers found Brian Stidham, 50, of Kansas City hiding behind a home near Truman Lake.

Stidham is suspected of abducting a 23-year-old woman from Jackson County and taking her car at gunpoint on Monday morning.  About 1 p.m. Monday, Benton County dispatchers received calls for help from someone on a cell phone.

Officers traced the ping on the phone calls to the rural area around the Benton - St. Clair county line near Truman Lake.  After a search of the area, a U.S. Corps of Engineers ranger spotted the stolen car and followed it to a home just inside Benton County.

Benton County and St. Clair County sheriff's deputies, and Benton County Sheriff Rick Fajen, then arrested Stidham, who's being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond.  Fajen says Stidham could face charges in other counties besides Jackson County.
