A local elementary school is putting its words into action.

Tuesday, students at Cloverdale Elementary school in Botetourt County rolled up their sleeves to make a difference.

This project is part of the school's effort to "Weed Out Drugs."

More than 100-kids, from kindergarteners to 5th graders, took those words literally to spruce up the campus.

"I think you preach to a kid, they'll maybe turn you off, but if you can associate some kind of fun activity with that same message, you're going to reach the kids a lot more efficiently," says Special Education teacher Branden Wells.

Monday's afterschool event was to help kick off "Red Ribbon Week" which start next week.

Red Ribbon Week is a prevention program to keep kids from using drugs.
