100 miles in 100 days.  Sounds like a lot?  Not really. It's just a matter of getting started, and Roanoke's parks and recreation folks want to help you kick off a healthier life-style.

The second Roanoke 100 Miler starts on January 7. It runs until April 15. The program challenges participants to complete 100 miles of human-powered exercise in 100 days.

Registration is open now. The program is $9, or $19 for the registration and Roanoke 100-miler t-shirt. This year, team registration is available.

Participants are asked to track their run, on a paper log or through the RunKeeper app.

A program encouraging people to exercise in Roanoke is back for a second year.

Roanoke Parks and Recreation announced Monday morning that the Roanoke 100-Miler program will return. The program challenges participants to complete 100 miles of human-powered exercise in 100 days.

Last year 850 people signed up.

The program runs from Jan. 7 to April 15. Registration is open now. The program is $9, or $19 for the registration and Roanoke 100-miler t-shirt. This year, team registration is available.
