A nursing home in South Boston is closing, but it’s not clear when or why.
South Boston Manor administrator Donald Liegey confirmed that the nursing home will close. Liegey said that he has not heard from the owners of the nursing home as to why or when the home will close.
Around 40 people live at South Boston Manor, and 60 people are employed there.
The nursing home is working to find new placements for South Boston Manor residents, Liegey said.
This isn't the first shocker coming from this nursing home.
The most recent report from the Department of Health gave the facility a poor grade.
In a 26 page report, inspectors found mold and unusable lights in patients rooms, staff not keeping records up-to-date or clear, and staff giving patients wrong medicine.
It's not clear if the findings had any part in the announcement.
South Boston Manor is owned by Epic Group Limited, based in South Carolina.
Liegey says he's expecting a letter from the owners in a couple weeks that will explain the reason for closing.
