Every year my Mom and I would makes these, especially around Super Bowl time.  I'm a huge New England Patriots fan. Back in the 1980's we didn't have much to celebrate on Super Bowl weekend, but I still make these every year and have great thoughts of home.

Stuffed Mushrooms

1 Carton Large White Mushrooms
A small loaf of white bread
1/2 stick margarine

Wash and remove stem from mushrooms. Peel mushrooms and stems.  Place peeled mushrooms in baking pan.  Peel and finely chop stems from the mushrooms. Finely chop the small onion and clove of garlic.  Over medium heat sauté onions, garlic, chopped mushroom stems and margarine in pan. Cook until onions are translucent. Add salt to taste. Take about 6 slices of bread. Remove crust and cut into very small squares.  Remove pan from heat and finely chopped bread to mixture until all is moist.  If too dry just add a little water. Stuff mushrooms with this mixture and bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until stuffing is golden brown on top. Enjoy!
