A 10-week-old puppy rescued from a vicious dog fight in Asheboro has a heart in a couple of different ways.

Two stylists at a hair salon saw a pack of dogs attacking another dog in a neighbor's backyard last week.

"These dogs were not going to let this puppy go," stylist Lisa Bullins said.

Bullins' colleague, Alysha Brady, also saw the melee and went to stop it.

"I jumped out of the car and hollered and had them stop, and the little dog scurried underneath a van," Brady said.

Once the neighbor got home, Brady checked on the pup and brought it back to the salon.

"We just knew we had to get him out of there. For whatever reason he was getting picked on extremely bad," Brady said.

Brady decided to wrap a towel around the pup and take him home with her as they tried to find a new owner. Once she got home, she made a rather unique discovery.

"We noticed while he was eating that he had a really big heart on his side. I thought it was awesome. It was like I was his angel mama or something," Brady said.

Brady found an elderly couple who wanted the puppy and will give it to them soon. Because of that, Brady has not named the dog, though "Cupid" and "Romeo" were among the names brought up in the salon.
