FAST FACTS:
(Dyersburg, TN 8/13/2010) Her name is "Roxo" and she's a long way from her Las Vegas, Nevada home.
The 3-year-old German Shepherd has been staying at the Dyersburg, TN animal shelter since June 24th.
She was found riding on a board under a railroad car, 1700 miles from Las Vegas.
Bobby Turnage found the dog, "It was a very strange situation. I was figuring the dog was inside a boxcar but it was up underneath the car."
Stranger still, "Roxo" had been dog napped and was traveling with two men.
It seems the trio was spotted by the train's engineer and may have been headed to Chicago.
After hundreds of miles, riding just two and half feet above the rails, Turnage says "Roxo" was in surprisingly in good shape.
"She was in very good spirits, happy to see everybody. She wasn't dehydrated. I was afraid she was afraid she might be dehydrated, but she wasn't."
People in Dyersburg tracked down "Roxo's" family in Las Vegas, but the owners said they didn't have enough money to get her shipped back home.
That's when Gerald Finley decided to help out.
After reading about "Roxo", he and his family chipped in the money to get her back home, "It's going to be in the vicinity of 8-900 dollars. But we didn't even consider that. I just told the lady, "Whatever it took to get the dog home, let's do it."
Workers at the animal shelter consider it nothing short of a miracle that 'Roxo" made the trip across country and is in such good spirits.
