Since coming to WDBJ7, Chris has reported on major stories including the abduction of Brittany Mae Smith, a New Year’s Eve explosion at the Federal Mogul plant in Blacksburg and the murder of Alex Ernandes, who was posthumously accepted to West Point.
Chris reported significantly on tornadoes in 2011, reporting from Pulaski the night two twisters caused widespread destruction. He was the first reporter to show images from the damage and continued with coverage of a fatal tornado a few weeks later in Halifax County.
He also has been able to capture the spirit of Southwest Virginia, whether it be profiling a rancher in Tazewell County with more than forty camels or challenging (and losing!) to the Salem High School Forensics team in a debate.
Chris is active in the community, singing for the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra Chorus and volunteering his time at the Baptist Community Center in Vinton with its after school program.
He graduated from Emerson College in Boston, but is originally from Philadelphia and is a huge Philly sports fan. He also enjoys running with his lab-border collie mix Sophie and cooking.
Please send Chris any feedback or story ideas at email@example.com.
