Meet Justin McLeod
12:10 PM EDT, May 21, 2010
Justin McLeod is a Massachusetts native (Go Sox!). He majored in Broadcast Journalism at Emerson College in Boston, graduating in 1998.
Justin first went to work as a reporter for KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, Missouri. He joined WDBJ7 in December of 2000. During his time at Your Hometown News Leader, Justin has participated in numerous award winning projects, and won an individual award from the Associated Press for his coverage of the SOL cheating scandal at William Fleming High School.
Here are some interesting tidbits about Justin: Four of his family members all have their birthdays in one week. He hates chocolate (I know, what is wrong with me?) and he was kinda famous long before he began his TV career. Back in the early 90's, Mel Gibson did a movie whose character's name was Justin McLeod. Do you know what movie it is? E-mail me if you need the answer. Finally, this one will really surprise people. Justin was voted quietest in his high school class. It is true. He has the yearbook picture to prove it.
In his spare time, Justin likes to go the movies... a lot. One of his hobbies is to see all the Oscar nominated films in the major categories each year. He also enjoys going home to the Baystate and visiting family, especially his niece Giulianna. He is a huge Red Sox fan (when they are winning of course). He remembers fondly the first time he went to Fenway Park as a boy. Of course, he says, he's better at watching than playing.
