As WDBJ7's Lynchburg Bureau Chief, Tim Saunders is covering an area he knows well. Tim is a native of Bedford County, where most of his family has lived for generations.
Prior to joining WDBJ7 in July 2006, Tim spent three years at WHSV-TV in Harrisonburg, VA, where he worked as a reporter and weekend anchor. Tim's work in Harrisonburg earned several statewide honors, including an award for continuing coverage of a Shenandoah Valley landfill controversy from the Virginia Associated Press, as well as an award for comprehensive coverage of Virginia agriculture from the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation.
Tim is a product of the Bedford County school system, graduating from Liberty High School in 1998. He's a 2002 graduate of Radford University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Media Studies. Tim also holds a master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University.
