David was born and raised in Roanoke and graduated from Cave Spring High School in 2008. From there he went to Syracuse University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science and Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
He is the youngest of three children. His sister Adena works at George Washington University, his brother-in-law is a lawyer, and his brother works for a hedge fund in New York City. David owes a lot to his strong family, especially his parents Bob and Debbie.
David is a huge fan of all things Syracuse, but grew up a diehard Duke Basketball fan. He is also an avid fantasy baseball player and baseball fan, so if you ever see him around town, he welcomes some good baseball banter. He’s also a news and political junkie who knows way more trivia than he probably should, especially about sports and American History.
David truly feels that being a journalist is the best job in the world. Aside from getting to do something different every single day, he thrives on being able to meet extraordinary people who do extraordinary things all the time. He views journalism as both an obligation and a privilege. The obligation lies in importance of journalism as it relates to informing people and the privilege is how strangers let him into their lives for a short amount of time to tell their stories. He feels it’s also a privilege to be allowed into viewers homes when they watch the news every night.
Keep up with all David is doing:
