Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I'll be working this Thanksgiving holiday, but I'm lucky enough to have an early dinner with my family (my in-laws).  My mother-in-law Sherry will be cooking up a huge feast.  She's already planning on giving us doggie bags filled with dinners to last the rest of the week!  She's an awesome cook, and I'm looking forward to every bite.

I have so, so much to be thankful for!

Wishing all of you a very happy Thanksgiving filled with good times and great food!

It has been five years!  I can't believe time has flown by so quickly.  I started working for News 7 in November 2005 as a reporter in the New River Valley Newsroom in Blacksburg.  Now, I'm bureau chief.  There have been lots of staff changes since I've been here....but the general feeling I have about my colleagues and managers has never really changed.  I'm blessed.  I work with great people and for a great company.

I've seen the best and worst of the New River Valley.  From the Morva murders, aftermath of April 16th, unsolved murders of Virginia Tech students, Heidi Childs and David Metzler, to the endless generosity of the NRV and the countless people who really make a difference in our community......I've covered quite a bit in a five year period and have grown significantly as a reporter.

On a personal level, much has changed too.  I became a home owner about a year ago and fell in love with the man I married in April, Micah.  It's been a whirlwind at times but what a ride!  I'm having a lot of fun!

I'm also including some pictures from our wedding along with some of our cat, Grayson.

It's certainly been way too long since I blogged last!  I blame wedding planning.  Anyone who is or has been married knows what I'm talking about.  Sure, it can be fun, but it's really a lot of work!  I haven't stopped.  Micah (my fiance) and I can't wait for it to get here!  We're less than three weeks away from the big day.  It will be nice to be on the honeymoon too!

I really can't believe a year has passed by so quickly.  We'll be married a year to he date that we got engaged.  It kinda just worked out that way.  We have folks coming in from all corners of the U.S for this celebration, and we are extremely honored by their plans to be there.  It's actually folks from 13 states that will be there.  Our families and friends are spread out.

Recently, everyone has been asking me if I'm ready or nervous.  I'm more nervous about the planning and logistical aspects of it.  As for the actual marriage, I'm 100% ready.  I am so proud to be marrying the best guy I've ever known.  I'm very blessed in that respect.  Plus, I've gained a wonderful new, big family!  This is truly the best time of my life right now.....and I have a feeling it's only going to get better!

Well, I'm engaged now!  I know.  Surprise!  It really WAS a surprise.  I got engaged on April 17, 2009 to Micah Kobia.  We are very excited about our life together.  Now, the planning begins.  We've actually gotten a few done already.  I can see where this could get stressful.  Any advise or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I learned how to post my own stories online today.  It's really not that tough at all.  I expected it to be much worse.  Then again, I had an awesome teacher.  Tracie Moore is our web producer, and she has all the patience in the world.  Thanks again Tracie!
