Are you suffering from allergies this fall? Are you sure that's what's making you feel lousy?  I had a long conversation with a doctor about the difference between allergies and just plain colds. It was really interesting!  I am learning so much as I report for our Hometown Health Segment! (My physician dad and nurse mom would be so proud!)
The cool thing is you can find out if your symptoms are being caused by allergies by getting a fairly simple test done.  That story is coming up Hometown Health.  I know some of you aren't home by then. How to tell if it's really an allergy.. Check it out online.

I know many of you may think I'm crazy, but I have a question for you. Do you brush your dog's teeth? Yes.. brush your dog's teeth with a toothbrush and doggy toothpaste?  Why you should tonight on News 7 at Five.
I admit I never brushed my dog's teeth before and when I tried the first time he squirmed and wiggled so much I have no clue if the brush ever made contact with a tooth! He loved the poultry flavored toothpaste though and he kept trying to lick that toothpaste off the toothbrush!
Take heart though... it really does get easier.  Veterinarians say you don't have to worry about getting every tooth. They say you should concentrate on the outside area of the upper and lower teeth between the teeth and the inside of your dog's mouth.
Vets say while the chews and rinses are okay, nothing takes the place of brushing.  Good luck.. and please keep trying. Your pooch will want all of its teeth as it gets older. Gum disease and lost teeth is no fun for our furry friends!

It is so hard to believe the summer is almost over! Where did those 95 degree days go?  Moms and Dads if you're struggling with ideas on how to pack a healthy lunch your child will actually like, I have some ideas for you.  Watch my Hometown Health Segment tonight!
Here is something funny: I have been using the tips I learned to make my own lunch!  It really does make lunch more fun!  Today I made a turkey and cheese wrap (with lowfat cheese of course) and something about a wrap versus a typical sandwich made the lunch seem better!  You know the saying: variety is the spice of life!
