Chugach Electric employees showed their holiday spirit Monday, as the company donated 450 turkeys to as many as 15 local charitable organizations including the Salvation Army, St. Francis House and the Food Bank of Alaska.
Chugach spokesperson Sarah Wiggers says the company has been donating turkeys during the holidays over the last 15 years. She says it's good to be a positive corporate citizen and give back to the community they do business in.
“We like helping the community; there are a lot of people in need,” Wiggers said. “I sit down and eat turkey every year -- I just hope everyone else can.”
Chugach says the 450 turkeys it donated equals about 6,000 pounds of turkey.
