Peak Wind Gusts
The highest wind gusts in the area were along the Lake Michigan shoreline. At South Haven, the highest wind gust was 64 miles per hour, while Ludington had a peak gust of 52 miles per hour. Not far behind were Muskegon and Holland, with top winds just under 50 miles per hour. In cities away from Lake Michigan, such as Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek, the highest wind speed was near 40 miles per hour.
More Rain in an already wet October
Rainfall totals of 0.25" to 0.50" made an already wet October even wetter. In Grand Rapids, the total so far in October is 6.22", which is over three inches above normal. Further, this month has been wetter than September and August combined (1.97" and 3.34", respectively) and the wettest month in well over a year! The last time there was a wetter month in Grand Rapids was in July 2011, when 6.87" fell.
