HEBER - Imperial County sheriffs are investigating an incident that allegedly involved a Heber School District classified employee and an unidentified district student.
The authorities would not comment on the nature of the allegations or about the investigation other than to say it is ongoing.
Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Sheppeard said that they were notified Oct. 23 of the alleged incident by the mother of the child, but would not further elaborate out of concern for compromising the investigation.
Heber School District Superintendent Jaime Silva also said district officials are looking into the allegation.
The district employee continues to report for work, but on a modified schedule, Silva said.

Border Patrol arrests sex offender
SALTON CITY - U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a convicted sex offender Friday morning at the Highway 86 checkpoint between Westmorland and Salton City, according to a press release.
Around 9:30 a.m., agents stopped and approached a 2007 Chevrolet pickup which tried to circumvent the checkpoint. They identified four undocumented Mexican citizens and a U.S. citizen inside.
One 34-year-old man was previously charged and convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child and sentenced to a one-year prison term and three years’ probation.
U.S. Border Patrol will seek prosecution on the subject for illegal re-entry into the United States.
Border Patrol seizes 23 pounds of meth
CALEXICO - U.S. Border Patrol agents located and seized 23 pounds of methamphetamine at the Interstate 8 checkpoint near Calexico on Sunday afternoon, according to a press release.
Around 2 p.m., agents referred a Ford F-150 pickup to secondary inspection, and a canine team alerted to the truck.
The 28-year-old U.S. citizen driving the truck and the vehicle were taken to the Calexico West Port, and upon inspection, agents found 20 hidden packages of methamphetamine.
The narcotics had a combined weight of about 23 pounds and an estimated street value of more than $764,000.
The man and drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.

Ounce of marijuana seized, one arrested
EL CENTRO - About an ounce of marijuana was seized from a resident who police held at gunpoint near the 1500 block of South Fifth Street in the early hours Monday.
Police got the initial report that two males were possibly breaking into vehicles, but as it turned out there were no vehicle break-ins, vandalism or burglaries, said Cmdr. Jeff Mason who noted that police actually encountered two males inside a parked vehicle.
The logs show that around 1:54 a.m. the males in question were detained by police at gun point in an alley nearby.
Only one officer was on scene, in an alley during night hours, said Mason, explaining why the officer may have needed to draw his weapon.
The officer eventually arrested Mark Sulak, 48, who was in possession of narcotics and booked into county jail, said Mason. The other person wasn’t arrested.
Burglars break glass for register’s cash
Some $150 from a cash register was stolen after the front glass door of a business near the 800 block of Main Street was shattered Sunday night.
It is unknown how many suspects entered the store, according to the logs, which note damages are approximately worth some $825.
No security video was available.
Vehicle accident injures one
A female complained of back pain following a two-vehicle accident near Imperial Avenue and Pico Avenue on Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened around 5:45 p.m., according to the logs, which note one vehicle with Baja California license plates sustained minor damages to the front.
The other vehicle sustained minor damages in the rear area.
