FAIRBANKS, Alaska—
A new incentive program could mean more flights into Alaska's biggest airports. The program by the Alaska Department of Transportation is out for public review. It will waive certain fees for airlines that expand or create new passenger or cargo service to the state's two biggest airports -- Fairbanks International Airport and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
Deb Hickok, president and chief executive officer of the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau, told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner the program is good news for everyone from tourists to travelers and local businesses.
The program works by cutting landing fees for new or expanded services for a limited time.
