Jean Jadhon is your Hometown News Leader's anchor for the Emmy award winning WDBJ7 at 5pm and WDBJ7 at 6pm.   She also covers health and medical news.

Jean began at  WDBJ7 as anchor of News 7 at Eleven.  One year later, she helped launch  WDBJ7 at Five.   In 2005 Jean moved from her post on the 11pm news and took on the duties as co-anchor of the station's flagship 6 p.m. newscast.

Jean is a native of central New York State and started her career as a  reporter in Binghamton, New York, before heading to Syracuse, New York, as a reporter  for the ABC affiliate there.  Jean's work then brought her to the Gulf Coast of Florida where she anchored and produced the weekday 10 o'clock news in the Fort Myers-Naples market.

One of the most challenging days in Jean's career was April 16, 2007, when a gunman opened fire on the Virginia Tech Campus.  Jean and her co-anchor Keith Humphry broadcast live on the air for ten hours with no commercial breaks.

"We were learning about the events as we were broadcasting.  It was an emotional day."  This was a day we put everything we've learned to use.  We really hope our coverage helped in some way as we all dealt with this unfolding tragedy as a community."

WDBJ7's live coverage with Jean and Keith was broadcast via CNN nationwide and on CNN International.

Jean covered Barack Obama's presidential campaign visits to Virginia in 2008 and 2012.  She was the only reporter allowed backstage access and a one-on-one interview with Obama during his Roanoke visit in 2008.   She also covered Mitt Romney's  presidential campaign visit in 2012 and she moderated the 2013 Virginia gubernatorial debate.

Jean is a graduate of St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York, and earned her Masters Degree in May, 2007 from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.  She also teaches Broadcast News Writing at Hollins University and Public Speaking at Virginia Western Community College.

Jean enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping, going to the gym, swimming and cheering on the Syracuse Orangemen.
