Roanoke, Va. -

Thursday is the 69th anniversary of the Allied invasion of France during World War II.

There are a number of our events going on in our area to recognize the sacrifice of the soldiers who fought in that battle.

Bernard Marie's 29th annual D-day Dinner is one of them.

The local businessman says this will be his next to the last year to hold it.

The doors at the Sheraton open at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Dinner and a presentation will follow.

Fifty-three D-day and World War II veterans are invited, among dozens of other people.
