CARROLL CO., Va. -

Wet weather on Friday sparked a deadly crash on a highway known for traffic problems.

State police say a man from South Carolina died just before 1:00 a.m. Friday on Interstate 77 in Carroll County.

The crash happened two miles south of the exit for Highway 58.

The car was going north when it spun out and ended up in the middle of the road.

The two people in the car got out, but William Petty went back to get something out of the car.

While in the car, two other tractor trailer trucks hit him on separate occasions.

One truck flipped, but the truck drivers are ok.

Petty died at the scene.

The woman driving the car was hurt, but not seriously.

She's being treated in a hospital.
