Star City Skate Center in Roanoke is kicking off the official start of summer.

It held a summertime open house on Saturday.

The day included vendors, a bounce house, the Honeytree Game Truck, a dunking booth and a visit from local fire and police departments.

Management at the center say they really want to make the center family oriented.

Operations Director Megan Foust says, "We are looking to bring famiilies back into the community because HoneyTree, Sylvan and Star City Skate are really working together to help raise children from six weeks all the way up to adulthood, including the education side and family entertainment side."

New management took over the Skate Center earlier this year, with the goal of making it a destination for fun instead of fights and crime.
