A source with the Randolph County Sheriff's Department in North Carolina told WDBJ7 Thursday that Matthew Steven Jones, who is the boyfriend of missing Carroll County woman Desia Rae George, has been taken into custody.
Jones was taken into custody by the Randolph County Sheriff's Department after allegedly trying to rob a bank in Ramseur, North Carolina on Thursday.
No new information on the whereabouts of Desia Rae George has been released at this time. Investigators are still searching for the missing mother of four.
April 30, 9:43 p.m.: New details emerged today about a missing Caroll County woman. Desia Rae George, a mother of four, went missing two weeks ago and the search for her continues.
We know George was last seen at her home the night of April 15th.
Investigators believe the last person to see her was the man who lived with her, boyfriend Matthew Steven Jones. Immediately following her disappearance, police named him as a person of interest but didn't charge him with anything. Law enforcement says he was cooperating fully with their investigation until a week ago when he went to his mother's house in North Carolina.
Authorities down there believe he robbed a bank near Ashboro, North Carolina yesterday, and that's raised red flags.
"We don't have a whole lot at the moment to go on other than leads that was given to us community wise and the other information that witnesses and stuff have seen that day," said Donnie Spangler, the lead investigator on the case for Carroll County.
Investigators are interested in Jones' whereabouts, but emphasize finding Desia Rae George is their top priority. Tuesday morning, George's family offered up a $5,000 reward for any information leading to her discovery.
They admitted they haven't gotten very far in terms of finding Desia Rae George. They said they're getting leads everyday and hope to continue to get the word out so this mother of four can come home.
3:24 p.m. Tuesday: There are new details about a missing mother from Fries. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has named the woman’s boyfriend as a person of interest in her disappearance.
Desia Rae George, 33, was last seen in the company of Matthew Steven Jones on April 15. Investigators are looking to speak with Jones, 34, about George’s disappearance. According to a news release, he was cooperating with authorities in George's disappearance until last week. Jones is also wanted in connection to a bank robbery in Ramseur, North Carolina, on Monday.
George’s family is offering a $5,000 reward for any information about her disappearance.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a Fries woman who was reported missing by her family.
Desia Rae George, 33, has not been seen by family members. George was last seen at 4 p.m. Monday. She was reported missing Tuesday morning.
George and her infant were initially reported missing, but the infant was later found with the baby’s father.
Deputies with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Grayson County Sheriff’s Office are working to find George.
