SALEM, Va. -

The Salem Red Sox hosted "Pack the Park for Charity" event on Wednesday, July 16.

This is to continue their effort in their special Community Outreach Initiative.

Wednesday's game benefited the Roanoke Rescue Mission.

Miranda Bryant and her dad Mark Bryant used to live at the Rescue Mission for seven months.

After a family member died, they both found themselves homeless.

Thanks to the Rescue Mission, they found a new home and are back on their feet as of June 5.

On Wednesday night, six-year-old Miranda threw the first pitch at the Salem Red Sox game.

The mission sold over 2,000 tickets to the game and all proceeds went to the organization that helps folks like the Bryant's.
