A Franklin County man is braving freezing cold temperatures in a tent. It's all in an effort to collect toys for kids this Christmas.

William Richardson set up a donation drop-off site in the parking lot of Smith Mountain Building Supply. The toys collected will be given to the "We Care" toy drive. This is the second year Richardson has camped out for toys. He says helping always brings him a lot of joy.

“The enjoyment of seeing kids smiling for Christmas. Knowing that kids is smiling whether I see it or not. Knowing that they are happy and they are smiling, and they have something to actually look forward to,” said Richardson.

If you want to donate, Richardson says he'll be camping out until late tomorrow night.
