Fairy Stone State Park is the largest of the original six state parks in Virginia.

It's also home of the legendary fairy stones, which are said to be the tears of fairies who cried when they heard about the death of Christ.

The park is also known for it's 168 acre lake that adjoins Philpott Reservoir. No gas operated boats are allowed in the water and that's to preserve its cleanliness.

There are many recreational activities available at the park including camping, boating, swimming, rowboats, canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, picnicking and two playgrounds, including one in the water.
