VINTON, Va. -

Whitney Jones is from Vinton and currently a Liberty University student in her junior year.

Back in October, Whitney started searching online for college scholarships and came across the Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway.

After reading that she could possibly win a $100,000 scholarship, she decided to submit her story to become a contestant.

Three weeks ago, Dr. Pepper called her to congratulate her on becoming one of five finalist.

On Thursday, December 5th, Whitney and her dad fly to Charlotte, North Carolina for the weekend.

On Friday, the finalist will be narrowed down to two by throwing a football from the 10 yard line into a small hole in the in-zone.

The final two will then compete during halftime at the ACC Championship game on Saturday, December 7th.

The winner will receive a $100,000 college tuition scholarship.

Whitney says her dream is to help kids with Autism and help their families cope with this growing disability.

Even if Whitney does not win the contest, you can submit your vote to help her win $10,000.
