ROANOKE, Va. -

The Blizzard of 1993 was considered the "White Hurricane" because it was so large and impacted areas from Florida to the northeast with snow.

Roanoke saw approximately 16 inches of snow.

This storm also caused flooding because of all the snow that melted plus rain that came through shortly after the snow fall.

The Roanoke City Tornado of 1974 was one of the last tornadoes to strike during the tornado outbreak of '74.

This tornado went right over top of the WDBJ7 studio and struck a school off Williamson Road.

The Ice Storm of 1994 came after a major arctic blast similar to what we've seen this year (2014).

Then in February 1994, back-to-back ice storms hit the area in one of the worst ice storms in Virginia's history.
