Botetourt County Fire & EMS hosted a cookout on Wednesday, May 21st, in honor of National EMS Week.

This celebration brought together career and volunteer personnel in appreciation of the tireless efforts of these men and women.

A special part of the celebration was the rejoining of EMS workers with a 14-year-old girl whose life was saved on April 16, 2014.

Felicia Earle was running track at Read Mountain Middle School and collapsed in sudden cardiac arrest.

Thanks to a group of people, an AED, and emergency responders she will get a second chance at life.
