ROANOKE, Va. -

Hoarding was recently identified as a disability in the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).  It is becoming more prevalent in the apartment community.

On Monday, Dec. 16, the City of Roanoke, along with the city's Fair Housing Board and the Roanoke Valley Apartment Association, will present an informative seminar on hoarding.

Corey Chalmers, host of the A&E Channel's Hoarders, will be the guest speaker for this event from 9 a.m. until noon at the Jefferson Center Fitzpatrick Hall.

Chalmers is the CEO and founder of Steri-Clean, Inc. and 1-800-HOARDERS.com, and has 18 years of experience in the biohazard and hoarding remediation industry.

Steri-Clean, Inc. responds to over 1,500 biohazard and hoarding cases each year, and is contracted by dozens of cities throughout California as well as management companies, hotels, and Fortune 500 companies.
