Interstate 64 West in Alleghany County is back open following an accident Monday morning.
The road was closed for several hours after a tractor-trailer hit a bridge railing and spilled diesel fuel. The leak has been cleaned up, and inspectors from the Virginia Department of Transportation have deemed the bridge safe.
A tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 64 has both westbound lanes closed in part of Alleghany County on Monday morning.
The accident happened around 3 a.m. near Indian Draft Road, exit 10. The Virginia Department of Transportation is estimating those lanes will be closed for most of the morning.
Crews are inspecting a bridge for damage and cleaning up the road.
A detour is set up for westbound traffic. Drivers will be directed off I-64 at exit 10, then follow Midland Trail west where they will rejoin the interstate at exit 7.
