LEXINGTON, Va. -

A school in Rockbridge County has gained some national attention for its recent renovations and expansion.

Maury River Middle School recently got a facelift and some pretty unique renovations without disrupting the students' schedules.
The project required so much coordination that it became the subject of a national review for contractors across the country.

Today, all that hard work was celebrated at the school's grand opening ceremony.

School leadership says the school now offers a more enriching environment for its students.

"It's a state of the art facility, wireless throughout, all those things but those things have allowed us to advance our programs, add more offerings for students," said the school's principal, Phillip Thompson.

The school's grand reopening happened on time, despite this summer's intense rain which delayed the work repeatedly.
